The New Birth

  • Download
In this presentation the condition of those who have died to self and thus been born again is outlined. Before one is born again, he must die to self first. Those born again will be enabled by God to do His will.

SUMMARY
Surrendering self to God is not works oriented. Salvation is not earned, but received. However the Lord asks us to completely surrender.

Death to self and being born again is one and the same experience. The person who dies to self is at the same time resurrected to a new life (John 12:23, 24). Before being born again (resurrected), you need to die first (Romans 6:1-8). Once we died to self, sin has no more dominion over us. However there are still habits that might cause us to think we are controlled by sin still. We must surrender these habits to Christ that He may become Master over every aspect of our lives. If you have made the commitment to die to self, take your eyes off you and fix them on Jesus. If you allow God, He will change your life and cause you to obey His will (Ezekiel 36:25-27). Some people try to change the external (try to keep the law themselves) hoping this will change their heart. But this will never happen. When you have died to self and been resurrected with Christ, you are made new in your entirety (2 Corinthians 5:14-17). Should we believe our feelings and appetites, or the word of God? The just shall live by faith.

In Christ we are blessed, chosen, holy, blameless, adopted as sons, accepted, redeemed, forgiven, sealed with the Holy Spirit, etc (Ephesians 1). This is a reality now, and not awaiting in the future. What Christ requires is for us to surrender to the point of death to Him, that we may be resurrected.
