A living relationship with God depends on continual conversation with Him. Prayer is how we speak to God, and Scripture is how He speaks to us. In overcoming addiction, constant communication with God is essential because prayer gives Him permission to work in our lives and renews us spiritually, mentally and physically. Honest prayer should include gratitude, confession, forgiveness, asking for the Holy Spirit, studying God’s word, and interceding for others. Praying for ourselves and others carries great power, and helping others is an important part of the recovery process.
