Understanding the work of the Holy Spirit is essential, because He is the One who applies the blessings of Christ’s sacrifice and ministry to our lives. Without His help, we naturally fall into sinful habits. When we give God our will, the Holy Spirit enters and strengthens that will so we can walk in the Spirit instead of the flesh. God can free us from any addiction as we cooperate with Him. By keeping our eyes on Jesus, our lives will produce good fruit. The Holy Spirit is the gift that heaven most desires to bestow, and receiving Him depends on asking with steady, persistent prayer.
