Overcoming Addiction

Dr Mark Sandoval shares his journey from addiction to freedom, and valuable information on how one may overcome addiction.
The addict repeatedly failed when relying on his own strength, but everything changed when he surrendered to God and followed His instructions. Addiction arises when unmet spiritual needs—especially the need for love—create suffering that people try to numb through harmful behaviours. True freedom comes only through surrender to God, trusting His way, accepting His love, and embracing the exchange Christ offers at the cross, where His innocence replaces our guilt. Recovery is a gradual process of staying connected to Christ, replacing negative thoughts with God’s promises, and learning to walk in His strength. Relapse simply signals the need to reconnect, not to self condemn. Over time, victories grow stronger, and helping others becomes part of the healing, as God supplies every need and leads the addict into lasting freedom.
